LIU - aside from being my alma mater, sits on the old
Paramount Theater. During the 1930's this was the
premire movie house in the nation. The theater has balconies,
mable, crystal chandeliers, a downstairs speak easy, and an
Original Wooster Organ.
Unfortunately, the ceiling, which is completely filled with statues and works of art, is under decay and in danger of falling down. The maintemnce of repair would be huge and so the school has covered up most of the theater...which STILL left enough room for a full baseketball gym with stands and concessions.
